mk asked:
I’ve been dieting and exercising lately and I had peanut butter on crackers, now i feel guilty. I hear that peanut butter is a healthy food but how can this be when there is so much fat in it?

Only the natural peanut butter is good. The regular stuff has trans fat in it (partially hydrogenated oil). When you look at the natural stuff in the jar, it looks nasty because it has a layer of oil on top. But you just have to mix it up before you use it. Peanut butter does have a lot of fat in it, but most of it is good fat (poly and mono unsaturated fats). The good fats help you burn off the bad fats.
When you read the labels, don’t just go by the total fat, you have to be sure to look at the breakdown. It should list saturated, trans, mono and poly fat amounts under “total fat”. If it doesnt, it will definitely have total fat and saturated fat. To figure out how much of the good fat it has, just subtract the saturated fat from the total fat.
